FAQ

What do I need to enter the Rotary Santa Claus parade?

A completed application form, a certificate of general commercial liability insurance with the Rotary Club of Sault Ste. Marie listed as additionally insured, and a whole lot of holiday spirit!

What is general commercial liability insurance, and how do I get a certificate?

All businesses and most organizations have general commercial liability insurance. You can email your insurer, “I need a certificate of general liability insurance with the Rotary Club of Sault Ste. Marie named as additionally insured” (you’ll need to include our address), and they will be able to get you what you need. If you are a school from ADSB or HSCDSB, then we already have a certificate of insurance from your board, so ignore this step.

What if I don’t have general commercial liability insurance?

You can find a business or organization to “sponsor” your float. They will provide you with the certificate of general liability insurance with the Rotary Club of Sault Ste. Marie (along with our address) listed as additionally insured from their insurer, and then you just have to list them along with your group’s name on the top of the application form.

How do I find out where to line up?

Rotarians will be awaiting you on the night of the parade at the corner of Queen and Church. They will tell you what your group’s number is. We suggest getting there between 4:30PM and 5:00PM, as all floats must be completely staged by 5:00PM to guarantee judging.

Is there a theme?

The Santa Claus parade does not have a theme like the Rotary Community Day Parade does. Feel free to express your holiday spirit in your own way! We encourage getting creative with costumes, music, lights, etc.

How tall can my float be?

The maximum height is 13.5 feet.
